Speaking Truth to Power

Believed to have been coined by Anita Hill (Google Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas for more info) in her book title, this has become far wider conceptually and is a fairly common term for taking a stand for something, whether it involves actual vocal speech or not. It is among the higher compliments liberals can pay one another.
